Administering handhelds
Managing handheld information reporting
You can enable or disable automatic handheld management for a user. If the setting is enabled for a
user, the current handheld status information is sent to the administration computer during a wireless
PIM synchronization. You can then view up-to-date handheld status information on the administration
computer. Handheld status information can also be exported to the administration computer or to a
network location.
Configure handheld information management
1. In the BlackBerry Manager, in the left pane, click a server.
2. On the User List tab, double-click a user.
3. Click PIM Sync.
4. Perform one of the following actions:

View handheld status information from the
configuration database
1. In the BlackBerry Manager, in the left pane, click Handhelds.
2. In the User Name list, click a user.

Notes: C++-based handhelds report handheld information at the module level and not at the application level.
Handheld phone number and home network information can be reported on GPRS® and iDEN® handhelds only if a
Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is inserted in the handheld and the handheld is provisioned for phone capabilities.
Action Procedure
Enable automatic handheld
management.
1. Click Automatic Handheld Management Enabled.
2. From the drop-down list, select True.
Disable automatic handheld
management.
1. Click Automatic Handheld Management Enabled.
2. From the drop-down list, select False.
